General lighting

UL has tested and certified lighting products and accessories for sale in the global marketplace for over a hundred years. UL uses proprietary Standards (there are over thirty different UL Standards for the lighting industry alone) as well as IEC, CSA, NOM, and others.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certified UL as a "Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory." UL is also NVLAP accredited (NVLAP LAB CODE 100255-0) for performance and EMC testing.

The UL Mark is widely recognized by consumers, retailers and authorities who trust UL's integrity and commitment to consumer safety. With this in mind, UL tests every product to the highest standards to insure that any item that carries the UL Mark can be used by the consumer with confidence.

Global safety and performance testing

UL can test and certify a product for a variety of markets including North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, etc. UL can also certify a product's electro magnetic compatibility (EMC) and its energy efficiency to qualify for the ENERGY STAR® mark including specialized photometric testing.

UL offers a variety of services from field engineering and technical consulting to quality certifications and product listing verifications.
