Ken Boyce is a Corporate Fellow in the William Henry Merrill Society at UL Solutions — a distinction reserved for the highest level of technical achievement, external recognition and contributions to its safety mission. He influences global trends in energy, safety, risk management, sustainability and technology through his engagements as a researcher, technical expert, speaker, lecturer and author at symposia, government events and universities
Energy transition
Ken plays a key leadership role in shaping the vast contributions of UL Solutions technical experts to standards and programs that support the goal of positively impacting our present and future environment through safer, more secure and more sustainable technologies. He has led several major energy research programs, working closely with the U.S. Department of Energy, National Laboratories and academic institutions to advance scientific knowledge through leading significant research projects. He has shared his expertise at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28), the United States House of Representatives Caucus on Science and the National Laboratories, the NFPA/SAE National Electric Vehicle Safety Standards Summit, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Joint Regulatory Advisory Committee on Electrical and Electronic Equipment, and many other speaking opportunities.
Regulatory collaboration
With decades of leadership experience in safety engineering across many sectors, including renewable energy technologies, energy storage and e-mobility, advanced grid technologies, industrial automation and Industry 4.0, fire detection/suppression/reaction, security and signaling systems, and much more, Ken helps steer the conversation in the standards and code development community. He chairs multiple national panels and working groups and represents UL Solutions in global safety initiatives.
