NORTHBROOK, Ill., September 13, 2016 – UL Wire & Cable, a division of UL, today announced that it has issued its first performance verification to LINKZ Industries Limited for its Category 8 (CAT 8) communication cable. The CAT 8 cabling and components are verified to help ensure they can meet the latest published requirements of CAT 8 for tomorrow’s data centers.
The CAT 8 cable is specified for transmission performance requirements up to 2 GHz for IEEE 25GBASE-T/40GBASE-T applications with a maximum length of 30 meters. It offers four times the bandwidth of standard Category 6A cabling and is fully backward compatible with Category 6A cabling, including RJ45 connectivity.
LINKZ is the first company to offer a third-party verified CAT 8 cable through UL in accordance with the latest published requirements for CAT 8 in ANSI/TIA-568C.2-1 and IEC/ISO 11801 (IEC 61156-9 for Cat 8.2 cable).
“With the CAT 8 standards already published, it was an obvious step for us to work with UL Wire & Cable to have the first UL verification,” said Eddie Li, Engineering Director, LINKZ. “Having our CAT 8 cable verified by UL helps reinforce our industry leadership.”
UL’s performance verification program encompasses comprehensive follow-up and market surveillance program, as well as UL’s anti-counterfeiting program. It provides a simple solution for end-users and LAN infrastructure and building designers to future-proof their facilities to meet the high demands of tomorrow’s data centers.
