Updated Glove Liner Retention Testing
NFPA 1970 introduces significant changes to the glove liner retention test. Previously, gloves were preconditioned using top load laundering with higher temperatures and more agitation. Now, they undergo front load laundering to simulate real-world washing conditions.
Additionally, while the previous standard used forceps to test liner retention, NFPA 1970 shifts to a more practical evaluation: test subjects donning and doffing gloves with wet hands, reflecting actual firefighting conditions. This updated method assesses the detachment of glove liners across entire digits and glove bodies, helping to support better safety and durability.
