The Automotive SPICE® model provides a basis for improving and evaluating processes. It defines requirements for the development of mechatronic systems with a focus on their software and system aspects. Other development disciplines, including hardware development, mechanical development and cybersecurity, also can be added to Automotive SPICE®. Automotive SPICE® is a trademark of VDA QMC.
Automotive SPICE® is used for the determination of:
- The status of project workflows.
- The supplier’s process quality.
The capability determination (called the assessment) is used for risk assessment in the context of supplier qualification. This includes a process dimension and capability dimension with maturity levels.
In the process dimension, Automotive SPICE® provides 32 process requirement profiles in the fields of systems engineering, software engineering, procurement, management and support. Project managers can use these process requirement profiles as good practice in their process design. Only a core selection of these profiles is included in the assessment.
