Among his many professional accreditations, Sean is a board-certified indoor environmental consultant, board-certified microbial consultant and board-certified infection control consultant. Sustainability
With a deep understanding of the building industry's needs and concerns across multiple market segments, Sean provides guidance on vital safety and sustainability issues. He leads UL Solutions ESG Management advisory, software and verification services, helping customers prepare for compliance with evolving global ESG and sustainability regulations. These include the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (European Union), the proposed Securities and Exchange Commission climate risk disclosure rule (United States), China’s mandatory sustainability reporting requirements, and more. His industrywide knowledge facilitates collaboration between UL Solutions and leading green building programs, such as LEED and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). Sean also works with colleagues across UL Solutions to develop tailored, expert-led decarbonization services to help organizations achieve net-zero goals.
“I often say to customers, ‘Don’t prescribe the medicine before you diagnose the patient.’ In other words, to make buildings healthier and more sustainable, we need to first investigate and evaluate before implementing changes. Enterprise and asset owners and managers who lack data and expert analysis when making decisions run the risk of wasting time and money on the wrong tactics.” – Sean McCrady
