Customers from over 50 different companies engaged in learning about the latest software updates, exploring product enhancements in development and reviewing detailed product roadmaps. They discussed new challenges and collaborated with the UL Solutions team. Additionally, customers had the chance to meet individually with their customer service reps, dive deep into topics in workshops, network with peers and gain valuable insights from other software users via customer presentations.
“WERCS Studio User Groups are always a highlight because we get the opportunity to listen to many customers in a single setting and often the suggestions, the challenges mentioned and the exchange of ideas, drive how we continue to serve the regulatory compliance needs of leading organizations around the globe.”

Exploring new WERCS Studio capabilities
Throughout the events, customers learned about the newest capabilities integrated into the WERCS Studio software, such as AI data extraction technology, new labelling software and tools to help with monitoring forthcoming regulatory changes to name a few.
In both events, UL Solutions Product Manager Desiree Sparella showcased how the use of AI data extraction is being integrated into WERCS Studio. This smart technology aids in saving valuable time by streamlining data collection and enhancing hazard communication programs. The integration of AI data extraction can provide valuable insights to support timely decision making.
UL Solutions Product Manager Amy Blood delivered presentations on the capabilities for managing requirements for regulatory labels and for collecting and sharing product data within the supply chain. These sessions provided customers with insights into the latest additions to our UL Solutions portfolio, highlighting how we are continuing to innovate to help solve the needs of our customers.
Jennifer Noll, UL Solutions Product Manager, shared an in-depth presentation on a new capability to monitor forthcoming regulations and changes. This session provided a preview of a new functionality designed to enhance visibility and offer insights into upcoming and pending regulatory changes. The software helps a company to be informed and prepare for regulatory shifts that may impact their operations. It includes features such as real time alerts, detailed proposal tracking and custom notifications to inform users about regulatory changes in Illuminator®.
Regulatory changes and challenges
PFAS
Numerous presentations featured the changing regulatory landscape. Krystal Spickler, a Program Manager at UL Solutions, shared an in-depth presentation on the Global Regulatory Overview and Updates related to Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS). Due to the widespread use of these “Forever Chemicals”, their persistence in the environment and potential health risks, this has become a significant focus of regulatory bodies worldwide. Spickler also shared how WERCS Studio can aid customers with PFAS reporting, decision making and managing compliance, and announced her recently published white paper PFAS Regulations and Strategies for Compliance.
GHS of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals updates
An update on global hazard communication regulations around the world is always a popular session at the WERCS Studio user groups and the team delivered again this year. UL Solutions experts Joan McGuffey, Dr. Martina Schneider and Allison Brooks provided an analysis of the recent updates to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals and the associated content updates that are required to fuel WERCS Studio. Their presentation highlighted the significant effects of the latest GHS revisions, including changes in hazard classification criteria, labelling requirements and safety data sheet (SDS) formats.
Workshop sessions for software users
Many customers also enjoyed the opportunity to dive deep into select topics, view software demos and ask questions about their specific challenges in workshops led by subject matter experts. These smaller working sessions provided customers an excellent chance to interact and ask questions specific to their situation and learn how to optimize their software.
Some of the workshop sessions featured:
Harnessing the power of instant self-service access to ChemADVISOR® chemical regulatory data and create custom dashboards
Learning how to compile, submit, maintain and disable Poison Centre Notifications (PCN) dossiers
Optimizing the use of templates, phrases and data mappings
Reviewing iRule controls and logic that allow users to automate time-saving steps
