A meeting of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) Notified Bodies Cooperation Group for the Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances Technical Regulation (GNBCG -LV) was held in Turkey on September 16-18, 2019.
UL participated as a major contributor in the working groups with representatives of the two GSO Notified Bodies, to give contribution for the growth of the program.
The main topics discussed were the definition of common procedures for the conformity assessment; the implementation of new features in the online portal for registration of approved products, the Gulf Conformity Tracking System (GCTS); and the harmonization with national requirements of each country and with the programs implemented for Energy Efficiency.
At the conclusion of the Istanbul meeting, the GSO met local manufacturers to discuss the wins and challenges of the implementation of GSO Regulation. A workshop, organized with the participation of Istanbul Chamber of Commers and TSE, was held on September 19.
The main topic presented by the GSO was the GSO Conformity Tracking System and the future developments that will give direct access to the involved Economic Operators and will be linked with National systems such as SABER for Saudi Arabia and the new registration system for Oman Energy Efficiency registration.
UL is an accredited Notified Body for Gulf Type Examination and is actively participating in GSO meetings for Notified Bodies in order to be constantly updated on new requirements and their implementation.
