The Dutch government has officially released the ‘Amendment to the Packaging and Utensils Regulation.’
Among the changes are listed below:
- Addition of new substances to the positive list of polymer production aids allowed for use in the manufacture of plastics (Chapter I)
- Addition of substances authorized for use in the manufacture of paper and paperboard (Chapter II)
- Addition of authorized coatings (Chapter X)
- Removal of the mutual recognition clause in the Packaging and Utensils Regulation
- Inclusion of new specifications/restrictions for certain substances already in the positive list
- Revision and addition of new provisions on the use of zirconium, including a Specific Migration Limit (SML) of 2 mg/kg
It will take effect on January 1, 2017.
