Oman Issues Draft Decree Adopting ASTM Standards for Children’s and Adult Jewelry

OMAN - The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has issued a draft decree to adopt standards set by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for children’s and adult jewelry. The draft is referred to as Draft Ministerial Decision on Mandating ASTM F2999 and ASTM F2923.

The decree mandates the adoption of the following ASTM standards:

  • ASTM F2999 Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Adult Jewelry
  • ASTM F2923 Standard Specification for Consumer Product Safety for Children's Jewelry

A public consultation on the draft decree is open until December 6, 2015.
