On Jan. 12, 2023, Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) published an amendment to Categories and Management of Handling for Concerned Chemical Substances. 15 New concerned chemical substances have been added and their specific management of handling is regulated.
When the draft amendment was published in September last year, an article regarding it was posted on UL’s Regulatory Update site.
Compared to the draft, the finalized amendment has postponed the deadlines of completion regarding some handling activities. E.g., for 1,4-Butanediol, the draft required that the following activities should be completed by Aug. 31, 2023: (1) labelling on containers/packaging, at operation sites and facilities, and preparation of SDSs; (2) obtaining approval documents for designated handling activities, such as manufacturing, import, sale, usage, storage and so on; (3) recording of operations. However, the official amendment requires the aforementioned activities to be completed by Jan. 31, 2024 to allow related business operators additional time to prepare.
The amendment came into effect on the date of its publication. For further information, please refer to the article regarding the draft and the official amendment.
Recommended action items
