FRANKFURT GERMANY, November 14, 2012 - UL LLC, a premier safety science company, and the VDE Testing and Certification Institute announce today they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will increase the cooperation between the medical / laboratory equipment divisions at VDE and the Health Sciences sector at UL LLC. Both companies are active in the field of verification and certification in health care and have signed the MOU to combine their efforts to best support medical device and laboratory equipment manufacturers with achieving global regulatory approval.
The VDE Institute and UL will leverage their complementary strengths to offer customers an integrated service package that simplifies and accelerates the testing and certification of products for regulatory approval and product safety certification in the high-growth markets in Europe and North America.
The commercialization of medical devices is increasingly complicated in the global marketplace. In order to be sold on the market, medical device manufacturers must provide documented test reports, clinical data and analysis to the regulators in each economic area for approvals.
"UL is actively identifying ways to provide more comprehensive services to support our global customers throughout the product lifecycle in the global marketplace," said Andreas Ogrzewalla, ULŤs Commercial Manager Life & Health, Europe. "Increasing our cooperation with VDE not only provides UL with additional expertise, but also supports UL's mission to help customers, to deliver safer products to the global marketplace."
Both UL and VDE test and certify medical devices according to the global regulatory requirements and provide additional support services for global market access.
