UL is excited to announce new certification options designed around the newly approved ANSI G6.6 T-LED fit system! On February 10, 2017 NEMA published revisions to ANSI C81.61, "Electric Lamp Bases” and ANSI C81.62, "Electric Lampholders”. These revisions include a new fit designed specifically for T-LEDs. This new T-LED fit system will allow for new certification options for Lampholder, T-LED, Retrofit-kit and Luminaire manufacturers. The new ANSI G6.6 T-LED fits system is intended to be used within luminaires traditionally designed for linear fluorescent lamp systems.
Lampholder Manufacturers
UL has updated its certification guidelines to allow for a UL Listing of ANSI G6.6 lampholders under the category for Solid-state Lighting Bases, Holders and Connectors (OLFB). These lampholders will be evaluated to UL 8754 (CAN/ULC-S8754), the Bi-National Standard for Holders, Bases, and Connectors for Solid-State (LED) Light Engines and Arrays.
T-LED Manufacturers
UL has updated its certification guidelines to allow for a UL Listing of line connected T-LEDs utilizing the ANSI G6.6 T-LED fit system. These certifications will be placed under the category Lamps, Self-ballasted, Light-emitting-diode Type (OOLV). These T-LEDs will be evaluated to UL 1993 (CSA C22.2 No. 1993-12 & NMX-J-578/1-ANCE), the Tri-National Standard for Self-Ballasted Lamps and Lamp Adapters.
Retrofit-kit Manufacturers
New certification options are available for Retrofit-kit manufacturers who are looking to leverage the new ANSI G6.6 T-LED fit system. Retrofit-kits are classified under the category Light-emitting-diode Luminaire Retrofit Kits (IFAR), and will be evaluated to UL 1598C & CSA TIL No. B-79A, the Standard for Light-Emitting Diode (LED) Retrofit Luminaire Conversion Kits.
Luminaire Manufacturers
