On September 27th, UL and GP Batteries International Limited, a member of Gold Peak Group in Hong Kong, held the grand Environmental Claim Validation (ECV) certificate presentation and strategic cooperation signing ceremony in Hong Kong. UL awarded the UL ECVP 2809 Certificate to GP Batteries at the ceremony. This makes GP Batteries the first battery manufacturer with the ECV Certification in Greater China. In addition, UL and GP Batteries signed the ECOLOGO strategic cooperation agreement, marking the official beginning of mutual in-depth cooperation in green and environmental protection. Mr. Victor CHONG, Joint Chief Operating Officer and Head of Rechargeable Products of GP Batteries, Mr. Boris FENG, Global Vice President and Managing Director of UL Greater China and Ms. Inna SUN, General Manager of Environment & Furniture of UL Greater China, jointly attended the signing ceremony.
Since its establishment under Gold Peak Group in Hong Kong in 1964, GP Batteries has rapidly expanded to become one of the world’s major developers, manufacturers and marketers of primary and rechargeable batteries. It supplies an extensive range of battery products to original equipment manufacturers and leading battery companies as well as consumer retail markets under its own “GP” brand name.
The company is committed to producing sustainable products for consumers through green and environment-friendly raw materials and processes. The ECV Certificate from UL reflects GP Batteries’ unremitting efforts and achievements in green and environmental protection. Through the document review and on-site audit by UL, it has been confirmed that the two NiMH rechargeable batteries validated by UL ECVP 2809 deploy 10 percent recycled materials as raw materials for production. This not only protects natural resources, but also reduces the generation of waste during production, making a positive contribution to the environment.
The ECV certification from UL has long been a powerful tool for product manufacturers to gain consumer trust in green and environmental protection and differentiate themselves in a highly competitive marketplace. What’s more, manufacturers whose products have achieved the ECV certification from UL can validate their environmental claims and use the ECV badge on their product packaging and marketing materials. With ease and convenience, this badge demonstrates that products have been tested by a neutral third-party and meet corresponding environmental protection requirements. Additionally, all validated products are featured on UL SPOT™— the largest credible green product database in the industry.
This ECV Certificate issued by UL is just one of the milestones on GP Batteries’ journey to green and environmental protection. The strategic cooperation agreement for the ECOLOGO project signed at the ceremony commits UL and GP batteries to long-term and in-depth strategic cooperation in the field of environmental protection.
