Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Lab Tours will celebrate the expansion of Advanced Furniture Testing, a UL Company, on September 2, 2015.
HOLLAND, Mich. August 13, 2015 – UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a global safety science leader, is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony and lab tours to officially open UL’s Furniture Center of Excellence in Holland, Mich. The event will begin at 10:00 AM on September 2, 2015 at the lab’s location at 3480 Windquest Drive, Holland, MI 49424.
The event will include opening remarks from Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager of UL’s Furniture Business Division. A ribbon cutting ceremony will follow the remarks, and then UL employees will guide visitors on a laboratory tour with lunch to follow. A key expansion at the lab includes the addition of engineers and capabilities to certify products to the UL Mark for Safety, which is the first time this has been available in West Michigan. The event is open to the furniture industry and local community and attendees should register here.
“UL is dedicated to building a Furniture Center of Excellence in Holland, MI, which is the geographic center of office furniture manufacturing in the U.S.,” said Alberto Uggetti. “Since our acquisition of Advanced Furniture Testing in 2014, we have added new capabilities, such as UL Mark safety certification, to increase the services available to furniture customers. We are proud to have the knowledgeable and dedicated employees of Advanced Furniture Testing on our UL team, and our newest engineers to deliver more capabilities and excellent service in this region.”
Advanced Furniture Testing, a UL Company, is A2LA accredited to perform testing to Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA) standards and is accredited to perform UL Mark safety certification. The lab also has expertise in Government Services Administration (GSA) testing, as well as testing to other industry standards and test methods. The close proximity of the lab to customers enables quick testing and report turnaround times.
UL serves the furniture industry with laboratories around the globe, including furniture testing and certification laboratories in both China and Italy, in addition to four locations in the United States. UL’s laboratory in Cabiate, Italy has also received accreditation to certify furniture products to UL Safety Standards. UL’s other furniture locations in the United States include Northbrook, Ill., where flammability testing is performed, a Jasper, Ind., facility for performance and durability testing, and a Marietta, Ga., location where chemical emissions testing and GREENGUARD Certification are performed.
