NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 23, 2018 – The reliability of machines using robotic components has increasingly become a major concern due to the growing complexity of the motions used to complete production and warehousing tasks. However, the evaluations of the reliability of robotic cables have not kept pace with the increased complexity. These cables are often an afterthought in most designs, yet they are a vital part of any well-functioning robot.
Flexing performance of robotic cables is one of the most cited technical issues for causing downtime and loss of productivity, affecting end-product and cable manufacturers, brand owners, suppliers and end users.
With this in mind, Suzhou Cableplus Technologies came to UL to with the request for an independent third-party verification of their robotic cable test process. UL undertook a factory lab test process audit of equipment calibration, a review of testing personnel training records and an audit of procedural documents. After completing these steps, UL has Verified the following marketing claim:
“Robotic Cable: Bend, Torsion and Chain Track Cycle Test Process Verified”
The UL Verified Mark indicates that UL used an independent, repeatable, science-based assessment to verify this specific marketing claim for Suzhou Cableplus Technologies. UL’s Verification provides objective credibility to the accuracy of the marketing claims that manufacturers use to differentiate their products or processes from the competition, and enables easier purchasing decision making on the part of consumers and buyers.
Suzhou Cableplus Technologies Co., Ltd is a special wire and cable manufacturing enterprise, founded in China with its own powerful abilities of R & D, testing and manufacturing.
“This is the first time UL has issued a marketing claim verification to a company producing robotic cable to provide confidence and peace of mind to specifiers and purchasers that Suzhou Cableplus Technologies is performing the cable test process as claimed,” said LF Lai, VP and general manager of UL’s Wire & Cable division.
Joe Lam, managing director of Cableplus said “Choosing UL’s marketing claim verification program not only helps installers and designers make an informed decision to source and specify products for their business needs, but also it will provide objective credibility to the accuracy of the marketing claim used to differentiate our products”.
