BEIJING, CHINA, November 20, 2020 — UL, global science safety leaders and the developer of SPOT®, and the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC), China’s leading certification body, today announced a collaboration that will make it easier for architects, designers, specifiers and procurement professionals to identify healthier, more sustainable products for their projects in China.
A widely demanded certification, CQC’s Environmental Protection Product Certification applies to manufacturers of hundreds of categories of products sold in China. The program promotes the production and use of environmentally friendly products, the improvement of the living and natural environments, and the sustainable development of the social economy. Products with the CQC Certification mark meet quality, safety, environmental and performance standards as outlined by the CQC and are required by many green building programs in China.
“This agreement helps advance our efforts to provide buyers seeking sustainable products with information they need to support their green building projects, procurement programs and initiatives in China and worldwide. This collaboration with CQC paves the way for UL’s SPOT platform to become an even more valuable resource to users in China and around the world,” said Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager of UL’s environment and sustainability division.
Displaying more than 130,000 product families, SPOT is one of the world’s largest databases of sustainable products. It is a valuable resource for buyers seeking sustainable products and features a broad range of items from building materials to furnishings, electronics, consumer products and more.
