The UL Solutions Retail Center of Excellence (COE) in Lowell, Arkansas, has added complete International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) Series testing, along with over two dozen Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) standards, to our offerings.
Why ISTA and TAPPI testing?
ISTA testing helps determine whether products are adequately protected throughout the shipping and handling process. This reduces the risk of damage during transit, which can lead to customer dissatisfaction, returns and increased costs for replacement.
TAPPI testing methods evaluate the paper and paperboard materials used in packaging to assess whether they meet industry standards for performance and safety.
ISTA testing simulates real-world shipping conditions to identify potential weaknesses in packaging early on. These potential issues include compression, vibration and impact, and other environmental factors. By testing for these issues, it helps companies determine necessary improvements in packaging. Additionally, it can potentially reduce costs by selecting materials that provide the strength and protection needed without over-specifying. This process also optimizes efficiency.
As an ISTA certified testing laboratory, UL Solutions Retail COE can provide the necessary support for documentation and test reports for the Transit Tested Certification to appear on packaging.
