UL Solutions, a global safety science company leader dedicated to promoting safe living and working environments worldwide, announced that the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA®) has recently approved the UL Solutions laboratory in Taiwan as a qualified Authorized Test Center (ATC) for the following new types of DisplayPort (DP) ultra-high bit rate (UHBR) cables under the DISPLAYPORT 2.0 specification.
Designation | Data Transfer Rate | Connector Type |
---|---|---|
DP40 UHBR | 40 Gbps | Full-size DP, Mini DP |
DP80 UHBR | 80 Gbps | Full-size DP, Mini DP |
DisplayPort is a digital audio/video (AV) interface standard developed by the graphics processing unit (GPU)/display industry segment and administered by VESA. DisplayPort technology is available on a wide range of desktop computers, monitors, notebooks, tablets, digital TVs and augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) devices.
As compared to the high bit rate (HBR) in the DisplayPort 1.4 specification covering up to 32.4 Gbps, the higher bandwidths enabled by UHBR allow a DISPLAYPORT cable to support a variety of more advanced use cases, such as uncompressed 8K 60Hz HDR, 4K 240Hz HDR, two 4K 120Hz HDR or four 4K 60Hz HDR displays.
In addition to DISPLAYPORT, UL Solutions is an experienced test laboratory for testing high-speed cables with other interfaces, such as USB, HDMI®, and HDBaseTTM ethernet, and can provide a comprehensive compliance test solution to the industry. UL Solutions is also a safety certification and testing organization offering bundled safety and performance evaluation services for cabling products.
