UL Solutions Now a KEYMARK Certification Body

UL Solutions is an approved KEYMARK empowered certification body authorized to assess and certify heat pumps, combination heat pumps and hot water heaters for compliance to European Standards. KEYMARK is a leading certification scheme in the European market owned by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Electrotechnical Committee for Standardization (CENELEC).

With this approval, UL Solutions joins the ranks of a small, select group of KEYMARK certification bodies authorized to confer Heat Pump KEYMARK certification to manufacturers in this market and support measurable advancement in sustainability and performance.

Heat pumps and sustainability

As the world transitions away from fossil fuels, more buildings will be equipped with technology that limits greenhouse gas emissions and boost energy usage efficiency — due to regulations, consumer demand and companies making environmental commitments. Government subsidies and favorable policies have encouraged acceleration in the global market for heat pumps, including a 39% growth in European sales in 2022 (accordingly to the European heat pump market and statistics report 2023 by EHPA). Despite a recent slowdown in European Union (EU) sales in 2023, at current growth rates heat pumps are expected to double their share of heating in buildings by 2030, according to the International Energy Agency.
