UL Solutions, a global leader in applied safety science, won a Ragan Communications 2024 PR Daily Award for the best Corporate Communications Campaign of the year and an honorable mention in the Professional Services category during a New York City ceremony that honored the most impactful communications campaigns of the year.

The accolades recognized the company’s strategic and results-driven communications campaign supporting its initial public offering (IPO) in April 2024 and its subsequent first earnings report.

Led by Kathy Fieweger, senior vice president, Communications, the company’s campaign engaged 15,000 employees globally, attracted investor interest and positioned UL Solutions as a trusted leader in its industry, successfully navigating the many complexities of transitioning to a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange.

When she accepted the award in New York on behalf of the team, Fieweger said: “If our work fell into a movie genre, it would be a ’Thriller’ – twists and turns and the final result isn’t known until the stock starts to trade. Throughout the process, we were committed to engaging our stakeholders by telling a compelling and informative story.”

The campaign utilized a multi-faceted strategy. To engage investors, the team created a video hosted on the NetRoadshow platform and developed an enhanced investor relations website, among other materials. Internally, the company produced CEO-led videos and launched an effort to educate employees about the IPO’s significance and impact through various activities.

The ceremonial ringing of the New York Stock Exchange bell — featuring President and CEO Jennifer Scanlon and others on the UL Solutions executive leadership team — and the lead-up to the first trade were broadcast internationally.

In addition, the team secured prominent media coverage highlighting the IPO’s success in outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and Reuters, and the first earnings report as a publicly traded company with Scanlon interviewed on CNBC’s TV show “Mad Monday.”

Celebrations for UL Solutions’ 130th anniversary added further impact, with Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker proclaiming “UL Solutions Day” to honor the company’s legacy and employees around the world joining in parties and sharing photos on social media and internally.

Celebrating and recognizing excellence in public relations and communications, the Ragan Communications PR Daily Awards are a prestigious recognition program that honors the most impactful campaigns, events, individuals and teams in the public relations and communications industry. Winning a PR Daily Award is a significant achievement that demonstrates a high level of creativity, strategic thinking and successful results. The 2024 awards were announced on Dec. 11.

UL Solutions has continued to build on its momentum as a publicly traded entity. The company’s stock trades on the NYSE under the ticker symbol ULS.
