UL Warns of Potentially Hazardous Electronic Ballast (Release No. 17PN-02)

NORTHBROOK, Ill., May 31, 2017 — The following is a notification from UL that the Electronic Ballasts identified below may pose a shock or fire hazard. The product does not comply with UL’s Safety Standards and is not authorized to bear the UL Mark for the United States or Canada.

Hazard:
The ballasts are instant start ballasts but are not marked “instant start” or “I.S.” These ballast may have been installed in luminaires with lamp holders not rated for use with instant start ballasts posing a potential shock or fire hazard.
