ULC Issues First Evaluation Report in Canada for Spray Polyurethane Foam and Coatings

March 7, 2018

TORONTO, ON, March 7, 2018 ULC today announced that it has issued the first Evaluation Report in Canada for Spray Polyurethane Foam and Coatings to Accella Polyurethane Systems Canada, a subsidiary of Accella Polyurethane Systems, LLC (A Carlisle Company), of Mississauga, Ontario.

In some specific situations, code authorities use product evaluation reports to provide technical evidence that a new or alternative material, product, design or method of construction complies with the intent of the building codes. To satisfy this need, ULC has been asked by customers to provide such technical evaluations through the issuance of ULC Evaluation Reports. ULC Evaluation Reports are intended to provide guidance to code authorities, architects, designers, contractors, installers and other built environment influencers in determining code compliance for products where:

    1. The product is not included in the model installation codes, or
    2. The model installation codes do not identify specific and clear requirements for the product, or
    3. The model installation codes have multiple requirements for the product not covered by a single standard.

These Evaluation Reports are based on the requirements outlined in the model installation codes and other standardized requirements. ULC Evaluation Reports help manufacturers demonstrate product compliance with specific code requirements.

“We’re pleased to issue this Evaluation Report for polyurethane foam and coatings,” said Joe Hosey, general manager of ULC. “ULC’s goal is to support innovative market solutions with reliable science-based repeatable testing and certification offerings, as we have done in Canada since 1920. We want to congratulate Accella Polyurethane Systems Canada on taking on a market leadership role in this area, as this is ULC’s first evaluation report of this kind in Canada.”

Accella Polyurethane Systems, LLC (A Carlisle Company), a leading systems house in the North American market, manufactures spray polyurethane foam systems for both residential and commercial uses. Accella’s complete line of SPF building insulation, roofing systems, and protective coatings are formulated to provide thermal, moisture, and weather protection.
