UL’s three decades in Mexico

With the opening of this new facility, UL builds upon three decades of serving customers in Mexico. UL’s presence in Mexico means that local manufacturers have a global partner to help them navigate the regulatory landscape’s complexities.

In mid-2022, UL will open a state-of-the-art laboratory in Querétaro, México, a hub for industry 4.0 in Latin America. Querétaro has deployed a successful pro-industry “triple helix” approach, facilitating exchanges among the government, academia and industry.

The Querétaro laboratory is one of the first multinational testing and certification facilities to open in Mexico. It will test products to destination market safety and performance standards, including Canada, the United States and other countries in Latin America, including Brazil, El Salvador, Peru and Colombia.

Industries and services 

The facility will offer local testing for the UL Mark for the U.S. and Canada, as well as the Normas Oficiales Mexicanas (NOM) and Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) approvals in Mexico and Latin American certification services.

This new facility will provide core UL testing and certification with services addressing the appliances, electronics, engineered materials, lighting, refrigeration, technology, and wire and cable industries.

With Mexico ranked as one of the world’s top exporters in the automotive industry, the new laboratory will also have dedicated experts and customized equipment available to provide automotive materials testing.
