The IECEx (IEC System of Conformity Assessment Schemes for Certification to Standards relating to Equipment for use in Explosive Atmospheres) Management Committee approved appointment of Jasmin Omerovic, conformity assessment program principal at UL (Demko), as IECEx Testing and Assessment Group (ExTAG) deputy chair for a three-year term of office beginning Jan. 1, 2021.
Omerovic has actively contributed to the field of global conformity assessment related to the development and operation of market relevant conformity assessment schemes for more than 12 years.
Developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the IECEX is a multilateral certification system best known for its IECEx (Certified Equipment) Scheme. Its members, representing 35 countries and nearly 130 global conformity assessment bodies, use the principle of mutual recognition, or reciprocal acceptance, of test results and factory surveillance to obtain certification or approval at national levels around the world. Over 4,500 certificates are issued annually to facilitate trade and reduce entry barriers for electrical and nonelectrical products of various industries in accessing global markets.
Throughout his career, Omerovic has focused on policy, scheme management, business and technical development related to global and regional conformity assessment.
