Emergency lighting: Conversation with an expert

The discussion includes the recent publication of UL 924A, Outline of Investigation for Emergency Signs with Alternative Visual Designs, which allows sign manufacturers a path to certification for certain emergency signs not in the scope or the prescriptive design constraints of the current UL 924 safety Standard.

Michael Shulman, principal engineer at UL Solutions provides technical oversight for UL Standards and certification programs for portable, low-voltage, underwater and emergency lighting. He is a member of the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code Means of Egress Technical Committee and a regular contributor to the National Electrical Code® (NEC).
