Overview

We offer streamlined testing processes and assistance in understanding the technical and regulatory demands of global markets.

Our services include energy efficiency verification, performance testing, a precertification review, or a full compliance assessment. You can take advantage of our bundled services to maximize efficiency. We can conduct one evaluation to certify your product for access to multiple countries.

If you don’t need a certification, we can still help. We also offer independent testing, construction analysis, performance evaluations, nonsafety testing and other services, which can be as valuable as certification. These services are specifically designed to help you make the best decisions about how to proceed with your products, potentially saving your time and money as you work to enter today’s competitive marketplace.

Our go to market services include:

  • CB certificates
  • Type examination certificates (TEC)
  • Safety certifications
  • Energy efficiency testing
  • ATEX and International Electrotechnical Commission Explosive (IECex)
  • Certificates of conformance (CoC)
  • Marketing Claim Verification (MCV)
  • Field evaluation
  • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing
  • Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliance
  • Wireless testing

Benefits

Pumps

Irrigation, sewage, fountains, wells, swimming pools and spa applications, to name a few, rely on pumps. Our technical expertise and industry knowledge has made it the certification company of choice for leading pump manufacturers. As pumps become increasingly complex regarding energy efficiency control in a wide use of applications, we help you innovate with confidence.

Our services can offer certification for major markets, including North America and European Union, in accordance with National or International Standards (e.g. UL 778, the Standard for Motor-Operated Water Pumps, UL 1081, the Standard for Swimming Pool Pumps, Filters, and Chlorinators, CSA C22.2 No. 108, and IEC/EN 60335-2-41).

Water

In addition to UL Solutions’ extensive knowledge of international and UL safety Standards, UL Solutions also offers certification to standards from other standard development organizations, including several NSF health and hygiene standards, including:

  • NSF/ANSI/CAN 50, Equipment and chemicals for swimming pools, spas, hot tubs and other recreational water facilities;
  • NSF/ANSI/CAN 372, Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content; and
  • NSF/ANSI/CAN 61*, Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects.

* Unless lead content evaluation is exempted by the Safe Drinking Water Act, products certified to NSF 61 also comply with NSF/ANSI/CAN 372.

UL Solutions is accredited in both the United States and Canada to offer these certifications, and the certification is accepted by code authorities in both countries.

Our flexible UL Solutions Follow-Up Services program for NSF/ANSI/CAN 50 allows for a single inspection per year without a five-year recertification requirement for certified products. UL Solutions’ continuing certification process is focused on keeping safer, compliant products in the market during and after standard revisions. If the standard is revised, an impact assessment will be performed, and if the revisions are found not to have a significant impact on the product(s), no further testing or evaluation will be required. If the revisions are found to have a significant impact on your products, a suitable timeline will be set and communicated to confirm compliance.

Motors

Motors, generators and electrical components — electronic controls, switches, protectors and TCOs — are at the core of many of the electrical products produced today. We provide a complete set of services for all your business needs, from appliance motors to industrial motors and generators.

Our team can certify your product – whether it’s being installed in North America or abroad. We offer test programs that can assess your product’s compliance to multiple global standards. With a bundled service, we can certify your motor or generator for major markets. The applicable standards include, but not limited to, the UL 1004 series, CSA C22.2 No. 100 & No. 77, IEC 60034-1, IEC 60034-5, IEC 60335-1, and GB 14711.

Energy efficiency

UL Solutions is a global leader in energy efficiency product testing and certification. We are the third-party testing, inspection and certification (TIC) company for the Department of Energy (DOE) regulations of electric motors (10 CFR, Part 431, Subparts B, X, & Z). Our Energy Verification Service (EVS) scheme is accredited by ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) and recognized by the DOE as a Nationally Recognized Certification Program for motor energy efficiency. We can apply the Alternative Energy Determination Method (AEDM) to your motor product series and then simplify the testing samples and inspection requirements. In Canada, we are accredited by Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as a Third-party Certification Body for the motor energy efficiency regulation of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

We also obtained Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) accreditation for motor energy efficiency. Besides, we are the IECEE National Certification Body (NCB) of IEC 60034-2-1 under E3 Category, so we can issue CB Test Certificates with relevant efficiency classes (e.g., IE3, IE4) for your motors. For the other national standards of motor energy efficiency, we can provide informative test reports with Certificates of Conformance (CoC) as an option to help demonstrate compliance.

There are several regulations for pump energy efficiency as well. We can help you navigate the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR® program, Department of Energy (DOE) regulations of pumps (10 CFR, Part 431, Subparts Y), and Canada's Energy Efficiency Regulation for Clean Water Pumps.
