Providing rigorous testing for smart home products that use the Thread Protocol.
Adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) devices from wearables to connected home automation systems is growing. Manufacturers have to innovate and respond quickly to gain market advantage. When designing new IoT devices, manufacturers need to ensure their products can communicate with other IoT devices seamlessly. A key consideration for manufacturers to adopt Thread as the IoT protocol is that this technology is low power and can connect up to 250 IoT devices in a secure network.
Thread is an IPv6-based low-power wireless mesh protocol that allows connectivity from edge devices to the cloud and each other. This protocol is designed for smart home applications such as appliances, access control, climate control, energy management, lighting, safety and security.
The Thread Group launched the certification for the Thread Protocol in 2017 to provide rigorous testing for IoT devices using Thread to ensure that they work together effortlessly and securely right out of the box. Among other benefits, certified products will help boost members’ confidence in specification conformance and customer confidence in interoperability.
We have been a member of the Thread Group since 2015. We have a worldwide network of Thread-approved testing laboratories available to deliver product evaluation, testing and certification, including the new Thread 1.3.
