HOMER Pro®, part of ULTRUS™ software from UL Solutions, helps our customers design renewable energy systems with actional insights and smarter microgrid design capabilities.

By combining engineering simulations and economic analysis, microgrids can be tailored to specific needs, such as village power, island utilities, grid-connected campuses and military bases.

Simulation capabilities

  • Simulate the operation of hybrid microgrids over an entire year, capturing detailed performance data with time steps ranging from one minute to one hour.
  • Evaluate all possible configurations of the equipment you’re considering, exploring every viable option.
  • Receive in-depth insights into system performance, helping you make informed decisions throughout the development process.

Optimization

  • Examine every possible combination of system types to uncover the most viable options for your microgrid or distributed energy system.
  • Streamline the process for identifying least-cost options with HOMER Optimizer™, our proprietary derivative-free optimization algorithm for HOMER.

Sensitivity analysis

  • Run thousands of simulations, enabling you to assess the impact of key variables such as global irradiance, fuel costs and load demand, all within a single analysis.
  • Easily compare varieties of possibilities to understand how changes in external factors influence your system’s performance, providing deeper insights into your microgrid’s behavior.
  • Identify the most resilient and cost-effective system configurations, optimize your design for current and future conditions, and balance your microgrid’s cost, efficiency and reliability.
