UL Solutions acts as a qualified third party to provide Firestop special inspections and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 80) fire door inspections, as well as observation reports for grease ducts, sprayed fire-resistive material (SFRM), intumescent paint, board wrap, endothermic and blanket wraps for new construction or fire code-required annual inspections.
The proper installation of these critical life-safety systems helps protect the building and its occupants against the spread of fire, heat, smoke and toxic gases should a fire occur. The inspections in compliance with ASTM codes provided by UL Solutions are conducted by qualified field staff. Our technical experts can determine compliance with the listed systems or other provided engineering judgements with the added value of reaching back to the testing and listing engineering staff if questions arise.
Firestop Inspections
The international building code has required special inspection of firestop penetrations and joints since 2012. The current code requires the inspection in high-rise buildings and buildings in risk categories III or IV and type R occupancy with greater than 250 load. These systems are inspected in accordance with ASTM E2174 & E2193, applicable codes and listing criteria.
NFPA 80 Inspections
Fire door and damper inspections are critical in maintaining a safe environment and compliance with codes.
