Focus on offshore wind farms
Compared to onshore wind farms, offshore installations remain more complex in terms of structural design, installation and maintenance. For sites built farther from the coast, the entire wind farm, as well as its turbines and components, must go through thorough development and evaluation to demonstrate that they are a worthwhile investment.
UL Solutions has pioneered research in the offshore environment, and our organization has gathered knowledge and expertise from various offshore projects. The certification process for offshore wind turbines and components is similar to the certification process for onshore installations. However, the process may require integrating additional technical criteria similar to those found in the testing and certification process.
Relatedly, the foundations for offshore turbines are often designed for specific projects. UL Solutions offers assessment services for construction documents and can help you interpret existing rules and guidelines so you can establish an effective, cost-efficient design.

Our DAkkS accreditation (Accreditation Certificate D-ZE-11326-01-00 according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013) is proof of our commitment to quality and competence for such activities as creating a conformity assessment body according to internationally harmonized standards. Within the wind industry, the DAkkS accreditation helps facilitate the acceptance of tested components, parts and wind energy technology and supports safer, compliant and cost-effective wind farms.
